I Thought This "7 Second Ice Water Routine" Was Silly...
Now I'm Wearing My College Jeans Again!

"At the company picnic, the day a coworker casually mentioned her simple routine."
- Debbie L.
Hi, I'm Debbie.
I'll just jump right in.
My ex and I barely speak these days, it's better that way.
No drama.
But when our daughter Emma said, “Dad asked about you,” I knew something was up.
A few weeks ago, I had to walk up and ring the doorbell when I picked her up.
He and his much younger wife, Olivia, were standing in the hallway.
Neither said a word… but the way he looked at me lingered.
And Olivia even stepped a little closer, like she was trying to figure out what had changed.
Today in the car, Emma told me,
“Dad said he hardly even recognized you when you walked up.”
I smiled to myself.
Not long ago, I wouldn’t have recognized me either.
At a company picnic this past spring, I remember posing for photos and feeling uncomfortable in everything I wore.
I was around 160 then.
Nothing in my closet fit right.
I lived in stretchy fabrics and avoided mirrors whenever I could.
That day at the picnic, I sat next to a coworker I hadn’t seen in months.

"One simple routine change everything for me."
- Debbie L.
She looked completely different... toned, glowing, and full of energy.
When I asked what she’d been doing, she just smiled and said,
“Honestly? Just a 7-second ice water routine I do every morning.”
I laughed at first. It sounded too simple.
But she was serious.
“It’s the only thing I changed,” she said.
That conversation stuck with me.
Later that month, after yet another frustrating day trying on jeans that didn’t fit, I decided to give it a shot.
No diets. No workouts.
Just that simple 7-second routine she swore by.
When I stepped on the scale recently, it said 127.
I had to double-check.
That’s over 30 pounds down from where I started.
But more than that… I feel different.
My energy is back. My confidence is back.
And I’m wearing jeans I hadn’t fit into in nearly 20 years.
When my daughter saw me in them, she said,
“Are those my jeans?!”
“Nope,” I told her with a grin.
“These are mine. From college.”

"Wearing the same sizes I wore in college. I couldn’t believe it!"
- Debbie L.
Later, Emma said,
“Dad started asking what you’ve been doing differently.”
She smirked.
“But as soon as Olivia walked into the kitchen, he stopped talking.”
Then she laughed and added,
“I think Olivia knew exactly what we were talking about… because she turned right around and walked out.”
I gave her a look and said,
“Don’t pick on your stepmom.”
But I couldn’t help the smile that crept in.
I try not to put Emma in the middle of anything between me and her father.
But if I’m being honest… that moment felt good.
